They can be used for things like purses, pockets, lightweight trousers, skirts, cuffs, backs of dresses, cushion covers etc.
Closed-end zips are permanently closed at one end like in a trouser zip. Because of this, they cannot be used for jackets, coats etc that do come apart at both ends.
